Tim and David look at some MyMac.com history, stolen videos, and the current state of Apple products.

Was just listening to this episode and thought I’d put in my two cents on the iPad conversation. I have to disagree with David. I haven’t owned a personal Mac for over a year now. I have been all in on the iPad and don’t regret it. I came to the opposite realization as David. I was never using the Mac and always on the iPad. I use it for everything and don’t miss the Mac. I do have a MacBook for work which I can use if I have to, but I would be fine without it.
I do have a Logitech keyboard case, which I love. I rarely use the keyboard, but for times I need to do a lot of typing it is great. It also, strangely, makes some websites work fine that are broken on the iPad without it. I also have used Stage Manager with a second screen whenever I do a video call and it is a game changer for the iPad.
I might be a different case, but I do see a difference in the M series iPads vs. the older ones when using art apps and processing videos. I would not buy an iPad without it being M series. I have 10th gen iPads in my classroom and apps like Procreate or video apps will often freeze and need a total restart (the app not the iPad). That doesn’t happen on the M series iPads.
I also use the iPad for gaming. I don’t have a gaming system, but I play a lot of games on the iPad. I don’t see myself playing the games on a Mac. In fact, when I’ve tried, it isn’t the same. The iPad is a much better experience.
As for Tim’s argument- I don’t use it in the bathroom, but I do use it when laying in bed or on a sofa. I would not use a laptop that way. I’ll even use it while pedaling a stationary bike.
I don’t think the iPad is going anywhere in the near future. Even if the Mac/iPad combo came to be it would be too pricey to replace the iPad completely.
